Take A Kid Fishing

Last weekend Sam and Dave participated in a local fishing contest.  They both had a great time.  Although Sam noted Grandpa's fishing contest does have better prizes. (Grandpa's meaning the contest in Granite Falls put on by the Kiwanis Club)

Love this photo!  Two of my favorite guys doing their favorite thing!

YUMMY!

Who needs a knife??

We are lucky enough to have a dad who loves to grill and smoke meat.  It means at this time of year we often come home to a delicious supper and I don't have to cook it!!  Last week I worked late with conferences and knew Dave had a crazy day plus the kids.  But, I still came home to the delicious smell of smoked chicken.  When I walked in this is what I saw.  I had to grab the camera.  Leave it to Sam to not get a knife or ask someone to cut it.  :)

Last Day of School

Last Day of School

Yep it is true we now have an almost 5th grader and an almost 2nd grader.  They both had great years of school.  Tonight Ellie showed me her report card hmm all A's and one A-.  Yep we are proud.  Sam gets 3's and 4's, 4's being above average and he got a 4 in reading.  How fun-  he went from barely reading to reading simple chapter books.  Both kids also got awards for physical fitness improvement.  Yay for the kids and thanks for letting me brag about them.  :)

My bicycle

Ellie has been telling us all spring that she needed a new bike.  We had to admit she really was getting too big for the bike she had.  We talked about the new bike being a birthday present.  Then a couple of weeks ago her bike actually broke.  We then moved into the daily conversation of when will I get  a bike.  After figuring out what a few of her favorites were, Her dad was out and about and ready to surprise her with a bike.  This is the same day she called her dad and said, When are you getting my bike. (She had no idea he was buying it at that moment).  Her friends had new bikes and she was sure her dad and mom would never get her the bike she was waiting for.  Until- Dad came home and asked her for some help outside-
