Dave celebrated his birthday last weekend with a cake made especially for him by his kids. Sam mixed, poured it in the pan, and helped me bake it. Sam and Ellie, with just a bit of help from mom, did the frosting.

Science Fair 2012
Have you ever wondered witch laundry detergent works best? Well out of Walmart's brand, Whisk, and Tide, Ellie found that tide worked the best. She had mustard, ketchup, and chocolate rubbed into the t-shirts for about 48 hours. Then each were washed separately. #1 Tide left the least amount of mustard. What I found amazing was the chocolate and ketchup came out of every shirt-now why isn't it that easy when I'm dealing with stains??

We finally had some snow and the kids couldn't wait to get to the sledding hill. It is so nice we can walk from our house. These are photos of Sam and Ellie trying out their new Zipfy mini luge's. What a great Christmas gift idea from Grandpa Tom and Grandma Mary Ann. Who thinks Grandpa Tom is waiting to visit one of his grandkids so that he can try it out too??

A little sewing fun!
As part of a school service project the kids had made fleece tie blankets at school last Friday. They both decided it would be fun to pick out their own fabric and make their own. As a mother trying to save money I first said, "don't we have enough blankets." Then I realized I was saying no to a fun brother/sister creative craft activity and off to buy fabric we went. Sam picked "Green Lantern" and Ellie of course picked her favorite colors. Ellie did the cutting and Sam did a bit of tying. I must say I didn't help until the very end when Ellie needed hers done so she could take it to bed. now I'm a proud mom of some great blanket makers. They are now thinking of who they can make blankets for
next.

Here are Ellie's other two dances. She loves hip hop- and I'm amazed with only 3 hours of practice it looks like this! Jazz is new this year. She had a quick change between routines and her headband was not in correctly. I bet we won't let that happen again.
